So I feel like no one but a select few read this anymore, but what eve...I'll still update occassionally I guess.  I encourage feedback though guys.

Anyway, after I worked New Years Eve...I drove into the new year...literally...and went to the family/friend party my family has every year out in Norway, IL.  It was good fun, but I didn't get there till about 1:20ish.  Then I was up until about 8:30am & slept until about 1pm....my sleep schedule is pretty screwed up!  All we did was work on this really tricky Bible riddle crossword puzzle & talk!  Good fun!

Now I'm getting ready to hit the hay here...today involved cleaning up the place we spent the night at.  So after that I came home & rested on the couch w/ Amanda & now its bedtime.

Tomorrow we're (Amanda, Brooke, & I) are taking mom shopping so she will buy some clothes for herself!  Its her christmas present...all of us saved up a bunch of money to take her shopping.  So I'm looking forward to our girls day out!

Well, hope everyone is well.  I'm very tired, so I'm going to crash!

Peace. Crystal

Unfortunately life hasn't slowed down for me yet!  oi!  My life will be gone for the next 2 school years with homework, school, & work.  Not something I'm exactly thrilled about, but I'll live.

Other than getting ready to start the most crucial years of school for me, I am doing okay.  This break has been mostly for visiting my family, who I miss a lot.  Amanda stayed in Rockford w/ me a couple days & we had a blast.  Took her shopping & to the movies & we slept in & watched chick flicks & talked.  I loved every minute of it...she liked it so much she's convinced she'll come up once a month to see me, but I doubt if she comes more than 2 times!  She's busy herself!

God & I are doing better.  I started reading a book by a very famous Texas minister (Joel Olsteen) called "Your Best Life Now" and that has helped me emensly with my outlook on the world & my faith in God in general!  I'm only a few chapters in, but it keeps getting better & better.  God is opening my eyes in small simple ways & almost getting my broad thinking mind to settle itself down so I don't over analyze things.  He is a smart God! (haha...who knows me very well).

One of my favorite parts of the book so far said:

"God is just.  He knows when people aren't treating us right.  He knows when we're doing the right thing, yet the wrong thing keeps happening to us.  He knows when we're operating with integrity, and yet somebody comes along and cheats us out of what should have been ours.  God sees every time you've been taken advantage of.  He sees every time you forgive, or attempt to restore a broken relationship, even though it wasn't your fault.  God sees all that; He's keeping a good record.  And He's promised to take all the evil that's come into your life, turn it around, and use it for good.

But here's the key question: Are you willing to change your thinking?  Will you take the limits off what God can do in your life?  Will you start believing Him for bigger and better things?

Change starts right here.  If you will change your thinking, God can change your life.  You can't go around thinking thoughts of defeat an dfailure and expect God to fill you with joy, power, and victory.  You can't go around thinking thoughts of poveryt and lack and expect God to fill you with abundance.  The two concepts are incompatible.  Surprisingly, many people have a narrow, limited mind-set.  They think small, believe small, and expect small.  And then they wonder why nothing big ever happens to them.  Its their own thinking that's keeping them in defeat.
We often set our standards too low: 'I'm not really happy in my marriage, but we get along okay; I guess this is the best we can expect.'  'I'm not really healthy but at least I can get out of bed in the morning.' I don't really have enough money, but with a little luck, I can pay a few of these bills.'

That is not the lifestyle God intends for you.  God wants you to live an overcoming life of victory.  He doesn't want you to barely get by.  He's called El Shaddai, "the God of more than enough."  He's not "El Cheapo" the God of barely enough.

Don't let anybody convince you that God wants you to barely get by in life.  The Bible says, "Enlarge the place of your tent.  Let the curtains of your habitation be stretched out.  Spare not.  Lengthen your cords and strengthen your stakes, for soon you will be bursting at the seams."  What a powerful picture of God's desire for you!  God is saying get ready for more.  Make rrom for increase.  Enlarge your tents.  He's saying expect more favor, more supernatural blessings.  Don't become satisfied wiht where you are.

One fellow told me, "Joel, if God wants to bless me, then He'll bless me.  After all, He's God.  I'm not going to be too pushy.  I'm not going to expect too much."

Unfortunately that's just the opposite of how God operates.  God works by faith.  You must believe first, and then you'll recieve.  Maybe you've been waiting on God to make a move, but God is waitin gon you to stretch your faith.  Make room in your own thinking, and then you'll start experiencing some of His supernatural increase.

I thought that whole 2 pages of the book that I read right there were amazing!  It totally spoke & applied to me & my relationship w/ God right now!  How true it all is~!

As for New Years resolutions, although most of them never last (except for of course the one year when I stopped biting my finger nails)...i think they are fun anyhow.
Anyway, I want to do well in school & keep on top of my homework.  I also want to stay commited to youth group (since I won't be able to go to church cause of work) & if possible exercise.
Of course, I'm not sure if I'll even have time to exercise, BUT...I did find out this past month that the hotel about 2 blocks away from my house has an indoor pool & if I wanted I could get a membership & use it all I wanted....(which is cheaper than paying $6 a day...as a member it's $135 for 6 months which ends up being a $1 something a day).  Anyway, I think I would be more commited to swimming as a work out routine than to running or something boring like that.  But like I said we'll have to see if I even get the time!

Well, other than that, I plan on going home one more time....new years eve after I get off work.  Then I'll come back 2 days later to have band practice for worship (youth group) & I'll be getting ready for school.  Books, bills, doc. appoints, daddy reciepts, etc... And the early homework assignments they passed out at orientation!  Can't believe it!

Hope everyone is hanging in there!  Miss you all!  :) Crystal

So I'm pretty much having an amazing day!!!  Work called me & I didn't have to come in, so I get to see Jared & his family play for worship at church!!!!!  Yes~!!!!

I'm so excited!

Anyway, I've been doing well...start the nursing program January 17th!  My social life ends there! lol. I'll be busy with homework & studying!  Joy! (sigh)  I'll be taking Pharmacology, Pathophysiology, & nursing concepts 1 to start with!  The 2nd 8 weeks of the semester I'll have started my clinicals!

Well, theres my recent news, Christmas break has been amazing!  I got to spend some time with my family, whom I love dearly!  Last weekend I had christmas with my immediate family & my dad, today I had Christmas with my grandma, family, & cousins.  Yesterday I took Amanda & Brandon to the bowling alley w/ me to go bowling & meet a bunch of my friends, it was a blast!  I hadn't been bowling with my friends in a while & it was amazing to have my siblings to have fun w/ me.  Unfortunately brooke had to stay home cause of work, so she didn't make it out to Rockford (tear.)  I miss that girl!

Well, hope everyone is doing good!  Miss & love you all!

:) Crystal
